ARGENTINE DESIGNERS

Cardon

Quality, warmth, commitment and trust are the pillars mandating each decision made at Cardon. The team shares the conviction that a person’s identity comes before fashion. To bring the two together, Cardon’s designs are imbued with elements of traditional Argentine culture. The strong presence of this label in Argentina and the increasing number of stores in the country has won Cardon recognition as a leader in the design, marketing and distribution of premium lifestyle products in three categories: fashion, accessories and home decor.

From its origins in 1988, Cardon set out to rescue the local traditions of artisanal clothing and accessories. The classic style and quality of the leathers, textiles and silverwork, reflect the most authentic parts of “Rioplatense” culture.

The collections, conceived by well-known designer José Mutti, are sophisticated and timeless. He uses only the best Argentine materials available for the wide range of accessories and fashion products created for both women and men.

More than 110 Cardon stores can be found across Argentina.

Cora Groppo

Cora Groppo incorporates her fascination with nature and morphology into her design aesthetic. Her garments reflect a thorough understanding of the body’s form and structure. The search for “the perfect fit” is at the core of all of her collections, which are known for strong shapes, monochromatic hues, and expert tailoring.

As a graduate in fashion design from the University of Buenos Aires, Cora began her career working for renowned Argentine labels like Vitamina and Yagmour. She later began to study the body and morphology in her search for “the perfect fit.”

In collaboration with Ramiro Lopez Serrot, Cora launched the label Cora Groppo in 2003. The line is modern, sophisticated and urban. She takes classic cuts and reinvents them to highlight the body and enhance the silhouette.

Coragroppo has shown at London Fashion Week, Fashion Edition Buenos Aires and La Cibeles in Madrid. Her line retails in luxury boutiques worldwide, as well as in her own boutiques: two in Buenos Aires and one in Rome.

Daniela Sartori

Daniela Sartori launched her eponymous label in 2010. The line’s exquisite interpretations of unity and simplicity have given her critical acclaim as a new designer. Her intention is to deconstruct mold-making, made possible by years of experience in tailoring.

Although her label is relatively new, Daniela Sartori has been involved in fashion design at all levels and for many years. Graduated with a degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Sartori has grown substantially in her work, participating in Colombiamoda, La Bid, and Buenos Aires Fashion Week. She is now making her debut in New York.

She collaborated with Cesar Albarracin in 2008 to create the line Cesartori, her first independent label, which showed in Buenos Aires, Colombia, and Madrid.

Desiderata

The Argentine Mazalosa Group formed the Desiderata label in 2006, and recognized today as one of the premier fashion brands in the nation. The collection is oriented toward a modern, urban demographic. Independent and carefree are characteristics that describe their ideal woman; Desiderata clothes are sophisticated and high-quality reinterpretations of vintage styles.

Each piece of the collection is meant to reflect the individual wearer’s essence, or spirit. At its core, Desiderata is simple, feminine, and joyful. Innovation with textures, patterns, and cuts sets Desiderata apart. Under the direction of Carolina Rosales, the creative team has come together to redefine urban tailoring. Desiderata is far from conventional design.

With several retail locations in Argentina and having had success at Buenos Aires Fashion Week, Desiderata is now taking on New York Fashion Week.

Mariana Dappiano,

Mariana Dappiano’s creativity influences her every design, resulting in exquisite pieces. After launching her first namesake collection in 2001, the label quickly became distinguished for their focus on texture and woven fabrics.

Sensuality and femininity permeate her collections, enhanced further through her artful use of color, textiles and cut. Together, these generate a sophisticated image. Real women with a defined sense of style, from any generation, can wear a Marina Dappiano look. She designs clothing that can be used and enjoyed at all times.

Today, Mariana is considered to be part of the founding generation of the great Argentine designers. She studied fashion at the University of Buenos Aires, also working for years as a specialist in textiles and tailoring before deciding to begin her own line.

Since the launching of this line, Mariana has been awarded the Argentine Chamber of Fashion’s prestigious “Tijera de Plata.” In recent years, Mariana has continued to mature as a designer, ever more secure in her aesthetic point of view. Her collections can be found in her boutique in Argentina as well as select luxury stores.

Min Agostini

Min Agostini uses her training and skills as an architect to bring a new level of structural innovation to her self-titled label. Min’s simple, minimalist style strongly reflects her close understanding of materials and space.

The real female form is the starting point for her creative process. Every aspect of her design evolves from the three-dimensional figure and the fabric’s unique qualities. The simplicity of each material is transformed through pleating, overlapping seams, enfolding ribbons and is constructed sculpturally into innovative forms.

Her design background and international working experiences explain her unique sculptural style. She had a brief, successful career as an architect before studying fashion in Milan. After her transition to clothing design, she launched an independent line in 2007, and has only met success. Min has been awarded the prestigious Argentine "Tijera de Plata", first prize of the "Salon de Diseño del Mercosur," and named Designer of the Year by "Puro Diseño."

This will be her second collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York.

Min Agostini has two boutiques in Buenos Aires; her designs are also sold in luxury stores throughout Europe and the United States.
