HERNAN LANDER

With an innate desire to push the boundaries, Hernan Lander employs visions of modern art and innovative forms of architecture in everything he creates. Beginning his journey at Altos De Chavon in the Dominican Republic, Lander was recognized with the Silver and Amber Thimble awards, and was awarded a full scholarship to study at Parsons New School for Design in Manhattan. Upon arriving, he continued to excel within his class, and won the Silver Thimble award for menswear before he completed his junior year.

While completing his studies, Lander worked for many prominent American designers such as Velasco Couture, where he was able to collaborate with top names including Rogelio Velasco, Proenza Schouler, and Ralph Lauren. He was also a finalist for the Gap competition in 2007, and won first place in the Nordstrom Competition that same year, for which his collection was produced and sold. During his senior year, Lander was then nominated as Designer of the Year at Parsons School of Design and received the Gold Thimble award. Upon graduation, he went on to work for Donna Karan until December of 2008, when he decided to create a contemporary line of his own.

Lander premiered his collection at the Edison Ballroom as part of iFashion Week S/S 2010, and at the Openhouse Gallery during F/W 2010. The collection received an overwhelming response by editors, stylists and the media, and Hernan was even nominated as the “Breakout Designer for 2010” by TimeOut magazine.

His creations have been worn by Ashanti, Toni Braxton, Iron Man's Olivia Munn, Twilight's Julia Jones as well as Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Dominican Republic. Several pieces of his collection have also been featured in the music videos of The Valkyrias and Melanie Fiona, as well as the season finale of Model Latina, season 3.

Lander is currently working tirelessly on his upcoming runway show for February's New York Fashion Week.
