(New York, NY March 9, 2004) - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios announced its schedule today for the Fall 2004 Collections. 37 designers will present their collections at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, CA, March 29-April 2nd.
7th on Sixth and Smashbox Studios announced in February that they would join forces to produce a unified, organized and centralized week of shows titled Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. The event is a joint production between the two groups utilizing the unique experience and expertise each of these entities brings to this marketplace

Lloyd Klein will kick-off the week on March 29th at 12:00pm. The show marks Klein's miraculous return to the runway after a devastating car crash in February left him in critical condition forcing him to cancel his New York presentation. "We think it only fitting that Lloyd, whose business is based in LA, inaugurates this very special, landmark week", said Mallis. Following Klein is Rachel Palley, Coco Clicks, Maria Bianco Nero, Petro Zillia and Gen Art. Continuing throughout the week are Von Dutch Kids, Michelle Mason, Tomer, Rami Kashou, Custo Barcelona, Pegah Anvarian, Jenni Kayne, Karanina, Monah Li, Sue Wong, Naqada, Heike Jarick, Sheri Bodell, Trina Turk, Lords, Davies, Frankie B., MartinMartin, Single, John Sakalis, Editte Keshishyan, Danang, Corey Lynn Calter, Richard Tyler, Shay Todd, Joe's Jeans, Grey Ant, Eduardo Lucero, Oligo Tissew for Oliver Twist, Susana Mercedes, Sanctuary and Louis Verdad. To celebrate the most exceptional talent LA has to offer, four designers were selected to receive an underwritten venue. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week presents Lloyd Klein, Eduardo Lucero, Pegah Anvarian and Richard Tyler.
In addition to Mercedes-Benz title sponsorship, American Express, Smashbox Cosmetics, Redken, Evian, Silhouette, Bluefish Concierge, Judith Ripka, Cotton, Zink Magazine and In Touch Weekly will sponsor the shows.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios has also partnered with The Mondrian, Ian Schrager's chic Phillipe Starck designed boutique hotel on the Sunset Strip to be the official hotel of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. By uniting a love of nature, the outdoors, and casual living with a profound sense of glamour and fantasy, the Mondrian captures the quintessential California lifestyle. Asia de Cuba, one of LA's hottest restaurants will be the official restaurant of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. Asia de Cuba provides an unparalleled culinary adventure with innovative Asian-Latin cuisine.
Smashbox Studios will house three venues, The Main Tent, Stage One and The Lightbox. The Main Tent, the largest venue, is a tent erected just outside the studios. It has an all black interior, an 80' long, 7" high raised runway .The Main Tent will accommodate the largest crowds and the most flexible production elements with 571 seated guests and 88 standing. It rents between $3,500 and $6,000. Stage One is an all white venue with a 108' long and ¾" high u-shaped runway. It accommodates 242 seated guests and 58 standing and rents between $2,000 and $4,000. The Lightbox, the most intimate venue, features a 57' long and 7" high raised runway, seats for 154 guests with 70 standing and rents between $1,500 and $3,500.
In an effort to further unify designers who show their collections in Los Angeles and to provide an even more cohesive week for guests of the shows, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios offers an 'Associate Membership' to designers who are showing in off-site locations between the dates of March 29-April 2nd and whose show does not conflict with any of the shows at Smashbox Studios. For a fee of $500, designers will receive an assortment of benefits including inclusion in the official show schedule, a database of world-wide press including names and local addresses of editors, journalists, photographers and video crews, selected runway photos images of their show courtesy of Getty Images on www.mbfashionweek.com, the official website of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios, designer listing on all event signage and an opportunity to increase visibility through additional marketing and advertising programs. To date both Gen Art and Trina Turk have signed on as Associate Members.
