LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles label Whitley Kros has been chosen as the "Mercedes-Benz Presents" Designers for the Spring/Summer 2009 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios from October 12-16.Comprised of design duo Marissa Ribisi and Sophia Coloma, Whitley Kros' Spring 2009 collection will be presented on Sunday, October 12 at 8:00PM in the Main Tent.Additionally, the Mercedes-Benz Newsgroup Web site will once again offer convenient information regarding all of the designers' collections, including Whitley Kros, as well as complimentary runway photographs following each show http://www.newsgroup.mbusa.com/

The brand's name, Whitley Kros, is a fictionalized character named after a street in Ribisi's hometown of Los Angeles and Coloma's in Sydney.Ribisi and Coloma created Whitley Kros to embody their vision and design esthetic and act as muse for the label. A relaxed style focused on fun fashion created with colorful and interesting prints to reflect a chic traveling flair.

For Spring 2009, Whitley Kros' romantic adventure in Morocco, Greece and Africa inspired the collection. Printed silks, linen/cotton knits, washed chambray, printed chiffon, solid silk charmeuse, and printed cotton are all materials used in the collection. The collection's color palate is sky blue, mustard, sherbet, silver, and navy solids mix in with romantic, whimsical prints. 

"I went to Morocco with Allen Ginsberg in my satchel and Bob Dylan in my ears," says Whitley Kros about the inspiration for the Spring 2009 collection. "I met Alessandro and embarked on a romantic adventure...safari in Africa and sunsets in Greece."  

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios will be held in Culver City, California, at Smashbox Studios, from October 12-16, 2008.Renowned designers will be presenting throughout the week, including Kevan Hall and Christian Audigier.Mercedes-Benz has been the title sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios since its inception in Los Angeles in 2003.
